The
Dads are set to play the Crom Family. They have played Securicor
a few times and come recommended - a good bunch of lads, no problems.
Unfortunately, the Dads are a bit light on the
ground and might not be able to put out a full side. However, Robbie
is available in goal again - lucky, because the Dads broke the last two.
Harry got concussion and broken ribs after the Securicor match (nice
and friendly) and Les is having extensive treatment by a specialist in
his field at The South Hants Hospital. Didn't know the contagious
deseases clinic dealt with football injuries?
More good news, it seems the latest talent trawl
through the Springhill Newsletter has unearthed a few budding talents.
Chris Andrews, a
rusty goalkeeper but quite keen - we'll soon knock that out of him. See
how his back holds out.
Sean Welan, all
round superstar and at 37 will reduce the Dads average age by a large
amount.
Carlos Garcia, not
really a footballer (despite the image his name might conjure up) but
a recent arrival from Manilla, Phillipines and looking for a sporting
outlet.
Bernie Carroll, keen
to have a go but a shift worker and might not be able to make all the
matches.
Dermot Stevens,
quite keen to play but can only make it when his wife isn't out on the
beer.
And of course, towards the end of last season
we welcomed, Jason Franklin who assures me
is absolutely leathal in front of goal. He's even had some coaching
from Dave Hedges. Jason is an Estate Agent by profession, but
don't hold that against him, he's quite keen.

Oh. . . I don't know
Chris Andrews maight appear, you never know.
I'm lead to believe that the Dads were a bit short
but The Croms lent them one of their players. Also that the Dads
held their own until hlaf time when the score was only 0 - 1 but after
the break the old legs stared to give way to their younger opposition.
As aways against youngsters if the Dads don't manage to get
a few goals in the first half then they fade badly in the second.
I'll
try to add a bit on, soon.
